Rev. Cal Hoffman grew up in Hamilton, Texas and graduated from McGregor High School. He went to college at Texas Tech where he met is wife Gena. He went to Taiwan for one year as a missionary, and then he attended Asbury Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky until his graduation from there in 1982.
After graduation, Cal came home to the Central Texas Conference and served his first church at Rena. Since then he has been a beloved pastor, serving churches in county seat towns of Hamilton, Ovilla, Groesbeck and others. Cal has been a United Methodist all his life.
Cal has always been active in the community where he has served. He loves serving in town and country churches and county seat towns. He has been active in the local ministerial alliances, Rotary, Lion's Club, and served as the hospital chaplain upon occasion. He has also tutored in the local schools. His passion in ministry is visitation, pastoral care and leading mission trips. He likes to do mission projects and work with parents and youth workers and teach Bible studies. He is known for preaching loving, positive sermons that Biblically address our life situations.
Cal and Gena have two sons: Andrew who is 28 and Kelvin who is 25. Cal and Gena both love to sing in the choir. Cal enjoys bicycling, canoeing and gardening. Gena works as a scopist, that is, she translates the notes of court reporters. She works at home and likes knitting, gardening, walking and birding.
